November 4: Home 4 the Holidays Begins

We will begin the Santa's Little Orphans Tree displays in local businesses. Individuals may pick up an ornament featuring a pet and its wishlist, go shopping, and return the ornament and gifts or monetary donations back to the business.

November 5: Home 4 the Holidays Kick Off Reception

Murphy's Law Irish Pub

As we head into the holiday season, we think of those less fortunate. And that includes Savannah's homeless pets. You can help get them the help they need. Coastal Pet Rescue's Home for the holidays benefit dinner is Monday at Murphy's Law Irish Pub downtown. For $25 in advance or $30 at the door you get a generous dinner including pasta entrée, salad, wine and dessert knowing proceeds help provide veterinary care for special needs pets (a cash bar will be available). Medical care will help ensure these animals are healthy enough to be placed in a loving forever home. Items to be donated to the H4TH supply drive may be dropped off at this event.

November 10: Savannah Heat Motorcycle & Music Festival

Cafe Loco, Tybee Island

Fun, food & drink starting at 2 pm - all the bands featured in Savannah Heat including Argyle, Train Wrecks, Listen 2 three, Phantom Wingo, Keith & Ross, Dope Sandwich and more. $5 Cover charge with a portion of proceeds goes to Coastal Pet Rescue. Items to be donated to the H4TH supply drive may be dropped off at this event. Animals available for adoption will also be present. Event presented by Synergy and Cafe Loco.

November 17: Pet First Aid and CPR Class

Pets are Family too! Have you ever thought about what you would do if your favorite pet quit breathing? Perform Mouth to Snout Resussitation of course! Coastal Pet Rescue has donated dog and cat mannequins to the Savannah Chapter so they can offer this unique pet caregiving course. In just 4 hours you will learn basic first aid and how to perform CPR on your pet. You will even learn you how to make breathing barriers from common household items! You’ll receive a first rate text book with lots of Pet First Aid solutions and a list of items you can purchase to make a Pet First Aid kit. Even if you don’t take this course, you should ask anyone who is caring for your pet if they have.

November 20, 27 and December 4: Pet Photos with Santa

This year, pet owners may get their pets' portraits taken with Santa at Oglethorpe Mall. On November 20th and 27th and December 4th, bring your leashed pet with proof of rabies vaccination to the Pepino's entrance between 6 and 8 pm. Items for our holiday supply drive may be brought to these events.
Coastal Pet Rescue will provide microchipping for $10 per pet at the November 27 and December 4 events.

January 1: Tybee Island Polar Bear Plunge

Join Coastal Pet Rescue's president Lisa Scarbrough and other CPR volunteers as they take the annual plunge to celebrate the culmination of 2006 and prepare for the intakes ahead in 2007. There is no cost to attend. Information will be available on the theme and meet up (usually at 10 am). If you would like to join the crew for the big plunge, email Lisa@coastalpetrescue.org.
